Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a particular way of talking with people about change and growth to strengthen their own motivation and commitment to change. Participants will learn to apply MI in an interactive/fun learning environment focusing on the foundation of the evidence-based practice, which is the spirit of MI, the core skills of MI using open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarizing (OARS), and the importance of deeply listening for and responding to change talk.

Psychiatric Rehabilitation at the core, is client-centered and strength-based. These are interventions that encourage self-determination and empowerment providing direct skills training to maximize independence. Participants will understand the different learning styles and how it translates into the teaching of skills, learn the step-by-step process of assessing skill needs, develop an individualized plan, and how to document the psychiatric rehabilitative skills and teaching that occurs in your work.

Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) is an evidence-based practice that has been found to be effective for individuals with co-occurring disorders (diagnosis of severe mental illness and substance use disorder). The foundation of IDDT is the transtheoretical model of the stages of change. This training will focus on the importance of utilizing integrated treatment by reviewing the stages of change and understanding the stages of treatment. We will also review and understand the types of clinical interventions that are helpful during each stage of treatment. Participants can expect an interactive training that will allow them to practice staging together.

This training will review the 8 core principles of supported employment. Participants will also learn the various tools/documents that are used to implement and sustain high-fidelity supported employment on an ACT Team.

This three (3) day training is a comprehensive review of the fundamentals of ACT. The training covers why a recovery-oriented approach is the foundation of ACT, its history and key components of the practice. We examine the treatment and rehabilitative interventions developed from the following evidence-based practices: Permanent Supportive Housing, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Supported Employment, Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment, and Wellness Coaching. Lastly the course covers the essentials of Person-Centered Planning and documentation required to effectively deliver service.
